Retold is committed to enriching the lives of people in British Columbia and Newfoundland and Labrador through therapeutic counselling.
Justine came to Thrive needing a name, strategic brand and visual identity to represent her new business.
During the discovery session, we discussed her business’ local and growing online competition, their style of counselling, as well their audience’s relationship with the words “therapy” and “counselling.”
Retold was suggested as the name, as people go to see Justine to redefine the stories they have about their past events. This storytelling theme was weaved into the introduction conversation for the business: Retold is committed to enriching the lives of our clients through therapeutic counselling. Given the opportunity to rewrite their stories of hardship and pain, our clients experience deep healing and growth, they create meaningful change in their lives.
Researching individual counselling and therapy practices, group practices and online companies gave us a clear understanding of how the competition talked about themselves and how they visually represented themselves. This allowed us to create a unique visual language that really resonated with Retold’s target audience.
From this, we were able to develop the following:
WHAT
Guided by compassion, we provide therapeutic counselling to people who are ready to experience meaningful change, deepen their healing, and improve their overall well-being.
HOW
We provide an emotionally safe and secure environment, so we can meet people where they are in their life. Our approach is strengths-based, anti-oppressive, and client-centred.
WHY
We exist to expand our client’s capacity to find freedom from hardship and pain, as well as deepen their healing and growth.
We were able to condense the company’s essence (a few words describing its fundamental nature) to: Life Enriched. A quote by Brené Brown nicely encapsulates this essence: “When we deny the story, it defines us. When we own the story, we can write a brave new ending.”
We also defined the company’s values, emotional and physical benefits, and desired personality, as well as the experience they want their audience to feel when interacting with them. From there, we developed their visual identity (all the elements that visually identify the company), including their logo (and usage rules), colour pallet, typography, imagery style, and collateral examples of a brochure, website, signage, business card, to show how all the different elements of the new brand work together as a cohesive design platform.
Since launching the company, Justine has continued to see growth and success, to the point that now, all her new business is from referrals.
